Fuck this class. I don’t wanna learn this even though it’s super interesting. I wanna to analytical! I’m an experimentalist and not a theorist!!

Chemistry = My Life

I saw this post at tumblr last week and I feel the same exact way. This is one of the many reasons why I do this shit.

Entropy: a measure of of disorderedness or randomness in the universe.

Second law of thermodynamics: the entropy of the universe is always increasing.

Is it just me, or is that concept beautiful and frightening at the same time?

That it’s possible to measure disorder and random, and that the universe is full of it, and that it will always increase?

I don’t know. I just like that idea. In a way. It’s also kind of unnerving.

These little things are the reason why I like what I do. I’m sure a bunch of you don’t give a rat’s ass, but fuck it. I really don’t care lol. (We need more “fuck it”s in this world.)I don’t give a shit about politics, but I understand how people can be really interested in such matter. I just have no shits to give. lol. What I’m trying to say is that find that one thing in your life that you are really passionate about. When I got to FSU, I didn’t know what I was gnna do. I changed my major twice. Engineering —-> IT —-> Chemistry. I had no idea what I wanted to do with it. I just knew that I liked chemistry alot and I was good at it back in HS. Now that I’m learning more and more about the subject, it just blows my mind how beautiful it is. Yes, chemistry is beautiful.

(FSU chem swag)

I’m quite blessed to go to FSU actually and study chem. My analytical professor is one of the best chromatographers in the world. You have no idea wtf that is, but let’s just say that he’s quite a pioneer in his field.Also, GN Lewis, like THE LEWIS DOT STRUCTURE taught my pchem lab professor’s professor. lol. I’m a “great grandstudent” of Gilbert N. Lewis. You know the Kasha building by the FSU bookstore? Yea, he studied under GN Lewis.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Kasha

But yea, that’s me having a small rant about random shit that I do. If you just find a way to be interested, involved and passionate in whatever it is you’re doing like your job or a subject you’re studying, then it would be a piece of cake studying for it. Really.

Graham, I may as well beat you to it.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXw6znXPfy4

You too Jessehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVohBBNYOks&feature=related

More interesting chemistry stuff:

Quantum tunneling:

A particle can overcome a potential barrier even if it doesn’t have enough energy to overcome the potential barrier. The reason for this is that a particle acts like a wave as well as a particle. lol.

One of the reasons why I love this subject is because of this youtube  channel. Yes, I’ve seen all their vids. http://www.youtube.com/user/periodicvideos?ob=4

Pchem professor late to class ever class.
